APPETIZER
Chutney Cheese Christmas Tree
MAKES: 40-50
TIME: 45 MINS
EQUIPMENT: 1 sheet pan
I had to bring this one back… last year, my family devoured it so fast I didn’t even get a photo 😅
We loved pairing it with my refined sugar-free imli chutney!

Ingredients
2 sheets puff pastry (thawed)
1 cup green chutney
2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp chili powder
sprinkle of salt
1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped (optional)
2 Tbsp jalapeños, finely chopped (optional)
1/2 Tbsp kasoori methi aka dried fenugreek, crushed (optional)
1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Instructions
Preheat Oven: Heat to 400°F.
Make Green Chutney: Blend all chutney ingredients together until smooth.
Prep Pastry: Roll out one puff pastry sheet on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Spread Filling: Spread chutney on the pastry, then sprinkle with cheese, garam masala, chili powder, and red onion (optional).
Layer Pastry: Place the second puff pastry sheet over the filling and gently press to seal.
Shape Tree: Cut into a large triangular tree shape, reserving extra pastry for a star or twists.
Create Branches: Cut horizontal slits on both sides of the tree, leaving the center trunk intact (about 1-inch strips). Gently twist each strip to form branches.
Egg Wash: Brush with beaten egg mixed with 1 tbsp water.
Bake: Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden and puffed.
Enjoy: Top with kasoori methi (optional), jalapeños (optional) and serve with imli chutney!
